Cotswolds Liberal Democrats Roger Brown- LibDem Parliamentary Candidate

THIS IS WHO WE ARE

We are the local party flying the Liberal Democrat banner in the Cotswold Parliamentary constituency. In our membership we have three county councillors, ten district councillors (five in Cotswold district and five in Stroud district) and several parish and town councillors working for you all year round.

Our prospective Parliamentary candidate is Roger Brown, who is also a county councillor for Cirencester. We are the main opposition to the Conservatives in Parliamentary elections here and have been for the past 35 years.

Bourton-on-the-Water Book Fair

Bourton-on-the-Water Book Fair

Cotswold Liberal Democrats held another successful Book Fair at the Victoria Hall in Bourton-on-the-Water on 8th June. This has now become a well-established and popular event both for the residents of Bourton and for the many day visitors (helped of course by continuous sunshine all day !).

The next Book Fair will be on Saturday 16th August, also at the Victoria Hall (10am to 4pm).

Threat to surgeries unfounded

Fri 20th Jun 2008

Liberal Democrats have said today they believe local concerns about threats to GP services in the Cotswolds are unfounded at this stage. Fears have followed the government's directive requiring each Primary Care Trust in the country to set up a GP-led health centre, branded a "polyclinic".

A great result in Brockworth !

Fri 13th Jun 2008

Congratulations to Mike Collins, the Liberal Democrat candidate, who scored a great victory over the Conservatives in a County Council by-election in our neighbouring Gloucestershire constituency. The poll was in Brockworth, which is part of the Tewkesbury parliamentary constituency.

Councillor nets You Tube video

Mon 2nd Jun 2008

A Liberal Democrat Councillor has recorded a three minute internet video to open up a serious debate over CDC's new waste service. Cllr Paul Hodgkinson (Churn Valley), Shadow Environment Spokesman on CDC, has posted the video on 'You Tube', the internet site famous for letting people share items for others to watch and comment on (see Home Page, top right).

Stealthy

Sun 1st Jun 2008

Conservatives at Shire Hall say they imposed a Council Tax rise of 3.6%. How come that your bill says 4.9%? CDC say that they kept theirs down by putting up charges. But, charge or tax, you still pay!

Cheltenham successes

Tue 20th May 2008

Cheltenham Liberal Democrats have taken control of the Borough Council after winning three more seats in the elections. Local people have sent the Tories packing after a period of unpopular Tory rule in the town.

A Winning Trio

Sun 18th May 2008

A winning trio in the Cotswold constituency celebrated council poll success. Peter Clarke (Water Park), June Cordwell (Wotton) and Paul Hemming (Kingswood) were centre of attention at a party in their honour.
